How a Healthy Lifestyle Leads to a Healthy Mind

Back To Homepage

It is not surprise that a healthy lifestyle has its many benefits. In fact, for a healthy mind and to lower your risk of dementia, you should practice living a healthy life.

Eating Right

To start living a healthy lifestyle, you should start by eating healthy! This means eating foods that are low in fat and low in sugar. Also, make it a habit to eat foods that are known as “superfoods” for the brain such as blueberries, salmon, avocado, dark chocolate, broccoli, pumpkin seeds, eggs and oranges. Remember, food should be used to fuel your body and mind.

Physical Exercise

On top of fueling your body with the correct foods, you also have to work your body and that means physical exercise. You want to aim at trying to get your heart rate up for at 30 minutes each day. This can be done by walking, running, cycling, swimming, hiking, practicing yoga or any physical activity that you enjoy doing.

Personal Care

Everyone should always keep up with their personal care. Your personal hygiene is important such as brushing your teeth, washing your face, bathing and getting plenty of sleep.

Cognitive Exercise

You also need to work your mind in addition to working your body. This can be done with cognitive exercises. New and novel learning has been shown to help mitigate the onset of dementia.
